Get Excited for Open Enrollment Season!

We’ve completed our yearly round of Health Benefits fairs at all 9 of the AHS facilities! We saw hundreds of employees and helped those of you who took the initiative to get your enrollments taken care of in the first visit to your site! Way to go!

We’ll be visiting each of the sites at least one more time in November, some sites more than once, so be prepared with your packets and your questions for when we come to your site to see you! You can view the full schedule on the intranet. It’s passing through the “ticker” on the home page and is posted on the Benefits page under Human Resources as well.

Exciting News in Holistic Health!

Acupuncture

Those of you at Fairmont and Highland Hospitals already know that the Freedom of Choice Medical plan includes 24 FREE Acupuncture visits annually, and we’ve been bringing that service directly to you. Weekly onsite Acupuncture clinics have been running at these two sites for a couple of months now, and we plan to bring services to San Leandro Hospital in February of 2015. In the meantime, finding an acupuncturist who takes our coverage is as simple as visiting the Anthem Blue Cross website.

Once you get there:

  1. Under Search by State, enter your state
  2. Under Search by selecting a plan/network, choose Blue Cross PPO (Prudent Buyer – Large Group) from the drop-down menu
  3. Under the first drop-down box I’m looking for a… choose Doctor/Medical Professional
  4. Under the second drop-down box Who specializes in… choose Acupuncture
  5. Fill in the remaining details and click Search

If you’d like to utilize the services of the folks providing our onsite clinics, we encourage you to do so. Their rates remain the same for Freedom of Choice members. That way, you have the option of seeing them onsite or in their offices for consistent care by the same provider.

She takes appointments by phone and through her online scheduling service. Simply choose whether you’re a new or returning patient, and make sure you note which location you’re choosing for your session (her Albany clinic or her clinic at Fairmont Hospital). Daniel takes appointment by phone at (510) 817-0680. He’s set up a special page to share more detail about the Highland services here as well.

San Leandro Hospital

Jesse Blazo will be offering his services from 10am to 2pm every Wednesday starting February 4th, 2015 in the HR Conference Room. He also practices at Lake Merritt Community Acupuncture where he offers both traditional acupuncture and acutonics. Both services will be offered at San Leandro Hospital. Reminders as we finish out 2014

This time of year is always crazy at AHS. We have a lot of plates spinning, so it’s important to keep your own health and wellness in mind as you make your daily, weekly, and monthly plans. It can be tempting to put our own needs aside during the holiday season as we prepare for parties, gift-giving, and family events.

Remember to stay ahead the curve by getting plenty of rest, making sure you say “no” when you need to, staying active, and trying to be reasonable about the sweets and treats (starting tonight! Happy Halloween!).
