SuperFruit SuperJuice Smoothie

I’ve shared this smoothie with both smoothie clubs, and folks loved it, even if they were a bit skeptical at first (it’s not a very pretty color when it’s all blended up). I also shared this lovely treat with a friend when I had him over for a basic cooking class. (We made braised pork with sweet potatoes and a wilted kale salad — so good!) To fuel us for our dinner prep, we started by splitting one serving of this awesome beverage for a snack. He loved it!


Dates have more fiber per serving than prunes, and they make for a great whole foods sweetener. Gogi berries are loaded with antioxidants and have more protein than you’d probably guess. Hemp seeds have healthy omega fats, fiber, and protein. All three are super foods!

So what’s a superfood really? Well, technically it’s a marketing term that doesn’t have an official, medical definition. But in the world of holistic nutrition and healing, superfoods are foods that are rich in antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, or other nutrients that have health-building properties. Typically, they have a greater nutrient density than most other foods. In other words, they’re foods we want to include in our diets. This awesome beverage contains carefully selected ingredients that meet those criteria in that it packs a serious antioxidant punch, is rich in healthy omega fats, and it’s got tons of fiber and protein. It doesn’t hurt that it’s also delicious, rich, creamy, and sweet! What else can we ask for in a meal-in-a-glass?

SuperFruit SuperJuice

  • 1/3 cup frozen blueberries
  • 3 to 4 whole leaves purple kale
  • 1.5 tbs raw cacao
  • 1 tbs gogi berries
  • 1 date
  • ¼ cup almond
  • 1 tbs hemp seeds
  • Coconut water
  • Almond milk

Now get blending!
