Put Down Your Device

I came across this post today from a great blog I follow, MeQuilibrium (I’ve mentioned it before in a post about gratidude), and I just had to share it today. It drives the point home so thoroughly that I barely feel the need to comment on it, and I feel so strongly about the importance of the content that I felt the need for a mid-week post.

So often, we’re consumed by our devices that we miss what’s happening right in front of us. My husband and I went on a camping trip this weekend, and deep in the wilderness of Big Sur National Forest, we had no cell reception for three days. We knew this going in, so didn’t even bother to bring our phones along, allowing us to have a completely phone-free meal on the last  day of the trip after we’d re-entered civilization. I can’t tell you how refreshing it was.
